Here's an effect that will really make them stop and think. Kids love it and adults are mystified by it. We suggest you milk it for everything it's worth!
A large, clear pitcher of milk is freely displayed and a glass may be poured for a member of the audience to sample. The performer then introduces a 32-ounce glass milk bottle. The bottle is empty, except for the memory of a cow from which the milk came....a cow that was, at one time, hypnotized........allowing her to start and stop her milk production on command, thus being able to fill several milk bottles exactly to capacity without wasting any of the milk.
Although no one knows the whereabouts of the magical cow, the milk itself seems to have a mind of it's own. To demonstrate, the performer removes the cap from the empty milk bottle and proceeds to fill it to capacity from the pitcher.
A playing card is placed over the mouth of the bottle, and the bottle is turned upside-down. The performer commands the milk to remain in the inverted bottle, and when the card is removed, that is exactly what happens! With the exception of a few drops, all of the milk remains suspended in the upside-down bottle!
The performer explains that by saying "MOO", the hypnotized cow would deliver milk. By saying "OOM" (that's "Moo", backwards), the milk production would cease.
He demonstrates by holding the still-full, still upside-down bottle over the pitcher. Upon his command of "MOO", milk streams from the bottle into the pitcher. When the word "OOM" is uttered, the stream of milk stops. This may be repeated as often as desired, even with members of the audience shouting "MOO" and "OOM". The mysterious milk obeys every command until the bottle is empty.
For a child's birthday party, it is especially effective for the birthday child to join the performer on-stage and chant the magic words. Even adults enjoy and are baffled by this perplexing mystery.
Now that the pitcher is full again, the milk may be used in other routines using liquid, such as Multim in Parvo; Hydrostatic Glass; Dove Pan; etc.
No glass or plastic disks; nothing added or taken away; no sliding valves or double-walled containers. May be worked completely surrounded in virtually any situation. Just add milk!
