Applause Card.
A gag item with a touch of magic, that will milk some applause, (and a laugh) from a "dead" audience, when your magic fails to draw some !
After completing an effect greeted by a wooden silence from the spectators, the performer displays a sign that says "APPLAUSE PLEASE". This is likely to produce a smattering of applause, so the performer turns the sign over, and it now reads "LOUDER". Hopefully the audience obliges, so the performer turns the sign over once again, and it now reads "THAT'S ENOUGH".
Use it a couple of times in your act, and your audience is well cued to be generous with their applause after every effect, rather than be subjected to another repeat of the corny "Applause Card". The sign measures 12" long x 8" wide, is visible on a large stage, and will find use in any sort of act, - not just a magic show. Made sturdily in board, with tape bound edges, silk screened in bright colours, and supplied at a very modest price.
