Adair's Jack In The Box
Jack in the Box – A Prediction with a Twist
Ian Adair’s clever take on a classic effect
From the inventive mind of Ian Adair comes this powerful variation of the classic “Parade of Kings” effect — this time using the four Jacks for a clean, direct, and completely fair prediction.
Effect:
The magician introduces a small paper box resting on the table, shown clearly empty. A spectator is invited to look inside to confirm this.
Next, the magician displays a fan of four Jacks — Hearts, Spades, Clubs, and Diamonds — freely showing both fronts and backs. The cards are mixed, backs facing the audience, and the magician openly places one Jack into the box.
Now, the spectator is asked to name any Jack — absolutely no force, and they’re welcome to change their mind as many times as they like.
Once the selection is made, the magician opens the box. Inside is the freely named Jack, which is removed and shown on both sides. It’s a perfect match — and a perfect mystery.
